Hello my friends,

What a great day at Greenville First!  Mika and I are still smiling as we think about how special it was to be with all of you.  It was an honor to share.

I'm committed to helping you as you move forward into real freedom for yourself and your family.  God is at work--let's join him in finding the life He has for each of us!  Below you will find a list of links that I referred to Sunday evening.

Mika and I were so grateful to be with you.  We are already anticipating the next time we are able to come back.  Know that we are praying and believing the best for each of you!

Keep swimming,

Toby

Parenting Tools

We learned that for almost any cultural issue/topic facing our kids and teens today, these tools can play a vital role if we are INTENTIONAL in practicing them consistently:

DEFINE YOUR HOME: What are your values (your time, money, and conversations)? What beliefs, mantras, and life verses are being repeatedly embedded into your children (even when they get annoyed ) so that it sticks in them even onto their children? This is legacy!

EYES ON RED FLAGS: Look for concerning patterns like isolation, withdrawal, fatigue, weariness of spirit, or lack of care about physical appearance, and start your conversations there.

FREQUENT CHECK-INS: Sometimes words are few, but we can always measure. Use the scales tool in conversation (“Rate where you are right now, this week, today, _____ from 1 to 5?”) with your kids, and revisit later with deeper conversation as needed.

Remember to answer FIRST and model this for them about your own struggles and tough seasons. How did you process and respond? How did God get you through?

PRACTICE HEALTH HABITS/DISCIPLINES: Model best health practices in your own life and include them! (physical, mental, and spiritual health practices)

BRING BACK THE FAMILY TABLE: Something special happens when we STOP, SIT, and EAT together. Conversations and questions around the table are powerful. Remember to answer FIRST and model this for them! *See workbook for question list

BUILD A GRATITUDE CULTURE: We are the mirror they are learning from. Start a tradition of gratitude in the home (journal, chart, jar, or saying the 40 I Ams together over time).

ENSURE SAFE AND SECURE: Identity is everything right now. Be sure they know WHO they are in CHRIST otherwise the enemy would like to bring confusion about who God made them to be. He made them PERFECTLY for this time on earth. Let your home be a safe place to experience failure by strengthening them daily and not overreacting (even in tough conversations).
