COMMON QUESTIONS

WHAT IS YOUR SUNDAY WORSHIP EXPERIENCE LIKE?
We gather on Sundays at 9 am and 11 am. You’ll be greeted with smiling faces who have a story about life change.  You’ll find a relaxed and friendly atmosphere through live worship music, and a practical message that will help you on your spiritual journey.  We offer notes through our app so you can follow along through the message. Children are well-cared for in a loving, quality nursery, and fun-filled GKids service.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN WHEN I VISIT FOR THE FIRST TIME?
You won’t have to stand up and we won’t embarrass you.  We know many people want to be anonymous while they examine a church before making a commitment.  Come in and enjoy the service to see if this is the right place for you.

WHAT DO I WEAR TO ATTEND YOUR SERVICES?
We hope you will find Greenville First to be friendly and welcoming no matter what your background. While some people dress up, most are just as comfortable in jeans and a t-shirt. Our focus is not on what you wear, but where you are headed in your relationship with God.

WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED?
We are located at 1105 Haywood Road, Greenville, SC 29615.  If you want to join our online campus, go visit our Facebook page: facebook.com/GreenvilleFirst

DO YOU HAVE A MIDWEEK SERVICE?
Our mid-week Wednesdays begin at 6:30pm and are filled with small groups all over the campus for kids and adults as well as our YOUTH gathering for middle & high schoolers!

WHAT ABOUT MY CHILDREN?
Our nurseries are clean, safe, and staffed with loving workers who go through a safety check to ensure your child gets the best care.  We offer a dynamic GKids service on Sundays, groups for kids on Wednesdays, and a life-changing student ministry from middle school through high school on Wednesdays as well!

OUR BELIEFS

  • The Bible is completely inspired by God, and serves as our authoritative guide for faith and practice.

    2 Timothy 3:15-17; 1 Thessalonians 2:13; 2 Peter 1:21

  • There is only One True God, known as the Father, Jesus Christ the Son, and Holy Spirit.

    Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19;
    2 Corinthians 13:14; John 14:16-17

  • Jesus is God’s Son, both completely man and completely God.

    Matthew 1:23; Hebrews 7:26; 1 Corinthians 15:3; Matthew 28:6; Acts 1:11

  • Humanity’s sin has separated us from God, and the only way to restore the relationship is forgiveness offered through Jesus Christ, making us right before God and leading us on a life-long path to God.

    Romans 5:12-19; Luke 24:47; Titus 3:5-7

  • There are two ways from the Bible that show our commitment to Christ that we should absolutely follow:  Water Baptism after Salvation, and Participating in Holy Communion.

    Mark 16:16; Acts 10:47-48; 1 Corinthians 11:26

  • The Baptism in the Holy Spirit is a free gift for all believers that will give them strength to live life as a witness of Jesus Christ.

    Acts 1:8, 2:4, 19:1-7

  • There is one Holy Universal Church that has a mission to evangelize the world, disciple followers of Christ, worship God, and provide Christlike works of compassion to all.

    Mark 16:15-16; 1 Corinthians 12:13; Ephesians 4:11-16; James 1:27

  • Jesus will return, judge the world, and begin a time of eternal relationship with those who follow Him and eternal separation from those who choose not to follow.

    1 Thessalonians 4:16-17; Revelation 20:11-13; 2 Peter 3:13

  • We believe the term “marriage” has only one meaning: the uniting of one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union, as delineated in Scripture (Gen. 2:18-25). We believe that marriage between one man and one woman, for life, uniquely reflects Christ’s relationship with His Church (Eph. 5:21-33). We believe that God intends sexual intimacy to occur only between a man and a woman who are married to each other (1 Cor. 6:18; 7:2-5; Heb. 13:4). We believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity be engaged in outside of a marriage between a man and a woman.

We believe that any form of sexual immorality (including adultery, fornication, cohabitation, homosexual behavior, rejection of one’s biological sex or use of pornography) is sinful and offensive to God (Matt. 15:18-20; 1 Cor. 6:9-10). We believe that God offers redemption and restoration to all who confess and forsake their sin, seeking His mercy and forgiveness through Jesus Christ (Acts 3:19-21; Rom 10:9-10; 1 Cor 6:9-11).

We believe that every person must be afforded compassion, love, kindness, respect, and dignity (Mark 12:28-31; Luke 6:31). Hateful and harassing behavior or attitudes directed toward any individual are to be repudiated and are not in accord with Scripture nor the doctrines of Greenville First.

  • We believe that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as male or female. These two distinct, complementary sexes together reflect the image and nature of God (Gen. 1:26-27).

Rejection of one’s biological sex is a rejection of the image of God within that person.

  • We believe that all human life is sacred and created by God in His image. Human life is of inestimable worth in all its dimensions, including pre-born babies, the aged, the physically or mentally challenged, and every other stage or condition from conception through natural death.

We are therefore called to defend, protect, and value all human life. (Ps. 139.)

  • The statement of faith does not exhaust the extent of our beliefs. The Bible itself, as the inspired and infallible Word of God that speaks with final authority concerning truth, morality, and the proper conduct of mankind, is the sole and final source of all that we believe. For purposes of Greenville First’s faith, doctrine, practice, policy, and discipline, our Governing Board is Greenville First’s final interpretive authority on the Bible’s application.

OUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • We are personally responsible for bringing "THE ONE" to Jesus.

  • We are a community, place, and people of hospitality.

  • We desire, pursue, and prioritize the power, presence, and person of the Holy Spirit.

  • We recognize our place within our community to be salt and light.

  • We believe it is our responsibility to live generously as a body and as a church.

  • We recognize that there is always a generation behind us and it is our responsibility to pass the baton the right way at the right time.

  • We are responsible for building more and better disciples.
